About the Role

Melbourne Polytechnic is seeking a compassionate and proactive Senior Secondary Classroom Assistant to support the learning and engagement of students in the VCE VM program. This role is vital in fostering inclusive classrooms and empowering students through tailored support in both one-on-one and group settings.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist teachers with lesson preparation and delivery, including gathering materials and adapting activities
  • Support individual students or small groups to reinforce learning concepts and address specific needs
  • Promote students’ social and emotional wellbeing and build positive relationships
  • Facilitate applied and project-based learning activities
  • Maintain regular communication with VCE VM teachers and Assistant Principal
  • Ensure compliance with Melbourne Polytechnic policies and procedures
  • Participate in professional development to enhance support capabilities


Skills and Experience Required

  • Experience supporting applied learning, project-based learning, and vocational education programs
  • Proven ability to support students in classroom environments and online learning platforms
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Confidence in working independently with students
  • Ability to engage with young people from diverse backgrounds
  • Strong time management, organisational skills, and attention to detail
  • Empathy and sensitivity to the learning needs of senior secondary students


Additional Requirements

Successful candidate will be required to provide:

  • A valid Victorian Employee Working with Children Check (WWCC)
  • A National Police Check
